1.1 GENERAL FUNCTION DESCRIPTION INTRODUCTION.
A HEAVY DUTY GAS TURBINE UNIT IS A MECHANICAL POWER ENGINE INSTALLED IN A PLANT.
*In most application to drive a generator to supply an electrical work
* Or sometime to drive a compressor for gas treatment plant.
The gas turbine power engine includes an axial flow compressor a multi chamber combustion system and a three stages turbine. Men components of the gas turbine are listed their below.
°The axial flow compressor is a 17 stages compressor
°the combustion system
°the turbine and the exit flow compressor blong to the same shaft connected

GAS TURBINE OR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE:::
A GAS TURBINE IS AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE , LIKE ALL OTHER COMBUSTION ENGINES GAS TURBINES COMPRESSOR COMPRESS AIR TAKE FOR COMBUSTION AND USE THE RESULTANT VOLUME OF HOT GASES TO DEVELOP SHAFT HORSEPOWER.
referring the three primary section of gas turbine engine are:-
(1) COMPRESSOR
(2)COMPRESSION
(3) TURBINE

(1) COMPRESSOR
Air is drawn into the air inlet by compressor. within the compressor air in compressed and a corresponding temperature rise in incurred. The hard compressor air is discharged into the compressor section of engine.
(2) COMBUSTOR
Fuel is admitted into the combustion section by the two nozzles . The fuel /air mixture is ignite and combustion occurs.
(3) TURBINE
THE HEART AND REPEATEDLY EXPENDED GUESSES ARE DIRECTED THROUGH THE TURBINE ROTOR ASSEMBLY. Their thermal and kinetic are converted into the mechanical energy the guesses are expelled out to turbine exhaust.

COMPRESSOR DESCRIPTION
The axial flow compressor section consist of the compressor rotor and the inclosing casing. Included with the compressor casing are the inlet guide vanes the 17 stages of rooter and stator blade are the exit guide vanes.
In the compressor air is confined to the space between the router and stator blades were it is compressed in the stages by a series of alternate rotating rotor and stationary (stator) airfowl shaped blades.

The router blades supply the force needed to compress the air in each state and stator blade guide the air so that it enters in the following rotor stage at the proper angle.
The compressor air exist through the compressor discharge casing to the combustion chambers. Air is extracted from the compressor for turbine cooling for bearing ceiling and during startup the pulsation control.

Since minimum clearance between rotor and stator provides best performance in the compressor part have to be made and assembled very accurately.
THE AXIAL AIR FLOW COMPRESSOR IS A 17 STAGES COMPRESSOR WITH:
- Adjustable inlet guide vanes IGV to control the air flow during starting and loading sequence.
- Bleed walls to bypass part of the air flow for starting and shutdown to escape from surging.
The combustion system comprises
- Fuel nozzles fitted on the combustion chambers cover.
- 14 combustion chamber were the fuel burns permanently from firing speed to full load.
- 14 Cross fire tubes connected to the combustion chamber.
- 14 translation pieces downstream the combustion chamber connected to first turbine stage nozzle.
- Two spark plugs for the fuel ignition.
- A set of slim detectors, installed it chamber number 4 and 5, 10 and 11, the dedict the fire.

The compressor rotor is an assembly of 15 individual wheels two subshaft ,each with an integral wheel speed ring, tie bolts, end the compressor rotor blades.
Each wheel and the wheel portion of each sub shop has slot broached around it's periphery.
The router blade and spacer are inserted into these lot and are held in axial position by sticking at each end of slot. The wheels and stub shaft are assemble to each other with meat mating rabbits for concentricity control and are held together with tie bolt selective positioning of wheeled is made during assembly to reduce balance correction.
The forward step shaft is machined to provide the forward and aft thirst force and journal for the n°1 bearing as well as the ceiling surface for the n°1 bearing oil seals and the compressor low pressure air seals.

APPLICATION OF GAS TURBINE:
1) Guess turbine plant are used as standby plants for the hydroelectric power plant.
2) Guess turbine power plants maybe used is big load plants and standby plants for smaller power unit.
3) gas turbine are used in jet aircraft and ship , pulverized-fired plants are used in locomotive .

3) گیس ٹربائن جیٹ ہوائی جہاز اور جہاز میں استعمال ہوتا ہے، پلورائزڈ فائرڈ پلانٹس لوکوموٹو میں استعمال ہوتا ہے۔
